Updates from Bundesliga, BundesligaII, Ligue 1, Scotish Premier League and Scottish Division II

The remaining matches of matchday 8 in Bundesliga saw Stuttgart losing 0-2 at home against Werder Bremen. As told in earlier posts, Hamburg failed to defeat Hertha BSC by a margin of 3 goals which cost them the top spot in the table. Bayer Leverkusen sit pretty on top with goal difference.

Ahlen were defeated 0 – 2 at home against Hansa Rostock whereas St. Pauli defeated Munich 1860 3-1 in front of home fans. FSV Frankfurt drew 1 – 1 at home against Kaiserslautern in Bundesliga II action on Sunday.

Sunday action in Ligue 1 saw the away teams winning all the matches played. Lille, Lorient and Monaco defeated Boulogne, Toulouse and Marseille respectively. Lille came from behind to register their away win whereas Lorient needed a last minute goal from Monterubbio to register their away win of the day.

Sunday football in Sctottish Premier League saw Hamilton facing 0-2 home defeat against St. Johnstone whereas Heberian and Kilmarnock drew 1-1 at home against Dundee United and Aberdeen respectively. Motherwell, St. Mirren and Rangers registered home wins against Falkirk, Hearts and Celtic respectively. Though Celtic lost, it was their first defeat this season in the league and their position at the top of the table was not affected by the loss against Rangers.

Weekend fixtures in Scottich Division II had Alloa Athletic involved in a goalless home draw against East Fife whereas Stirling Albion and Cowdenbeath registered away wins against Dumbarton and Stenhousemuir respectively. The matches; Arbroath vs. Clyde and Peterhead vs. Brechin City were postponed due to high winds.

Updates from Serie A

Inter Milan managed to hold on the top spot in Serie A when Sampdoria failed to score 3 points for the night at home. Sampdoria were forced to draw 1-1 by visiting Parma side. The draw demoted Sampdoria to the second spot on goal difference with 16 points from 7 games.

After two consecutive draws in the previous league games, AS Roma were facing defeat in a home game against Napoli when Lavezzi scored in the 25th minute. But Totti showed his class by scoring two goals for the home team and made sure Roma scored the maximum points for the night.

AC Milan was saved from facing humiliation by Brazilian playmaker Ronaldinho, as he scored the equalizer in the last minute of the game against Atlanta. The away draw was AC Milan’s third consecutive draw in the league this season leaving the European giants at the 12th position in the league table.

Another big club, Juventus too faced defeat as they were beaten by Palermo in an away fixture. This was the old lady’s first league loss this season which kept them at third position in the league table. Bologna were defeated 1-3 by Genoa in front of their home fans.

Cagliari were beaten 1-2 at home by Chievo who came from behind after Marcolini scored twice for the night. Fiorentina who defeated Liverpool midweek drew 0-0 at home against Lazio. The match between Siena and Livorno too ended in a 0-0 goalless affair.
