Sir Alex Ferguson: Manchester United will not be a part of the upcoming transfer rush

Date July 1, 2008

With the completion of EURO 2008 and several names propping up on the international scale, Manchester United Manager, Sir Alex Ferguson, felt that he was seeing a busy period in the European transfer market. However, he insisted that his side are not rushing to spend as of yet.

Although in the latter part of last season, Man United boss targeted several players. However after witnessing a fitting end to the season with victories in Barclays Premier League & Champions League, he was confident about the quality prevailing at the club and only one arrival was enough for them.

Speaking from Carrick course in Scotland where he was participating in Great Scots Cup (golf event for charity), Ferguson said that European Championship has been in the habit of derailing transfer activities in Europe, as everyone waits for checking out the most consistent player in the tournament for their squad. After the tournament, managers of every club across the continent settle down and start having dialogues for their favorite players. However, Manchester United Manager insisted that he will not go for more than one player.

Ferguson also believed that market will not have straightforward deals and advised other managers not to take club transfers likely. He feels that ambitious clubs will never allow money to take away their star playmakers and they will never allow easy deals.

With several players including Arshavin & Pavlyuchenko performing out of their skin in the tournament, it seems that most managers will have a tough task in their hands for finding a perfect balance in their squad.
