Blackburn Rovers Vs Manchester United: Rooney architects 2-0 win for United
October 5, 2008
Paul Ince, Blackburn Rovers Boss, was unable to defeat the experience of Sir Alex Ferguson, as the Devils’ boss engineered a 2-0 victory for his side.
Although Rovers dominated the first twenty five minutes of the game with clever passes, goals from Wes Brown & Wayne Rooney in each half sealed the deal for United.
England Manager Fabio Capello, who was amongst the capacity crowd in Ewood Park, seemed very happy with the way Rooney delivered the goods for his side.
However, many feels that he would have loved to get the services of Anderson and Berbatov, who were the instigators of United’s win.
England International Rooney was instrumental in both the goals. His immaculate pass caught Wes Brown, who steered it to the far post in the 31st minute.
Again, he hit an unstoppable shot into the Rovers’ net after Cristiano Ronaldo picked him up with a perfect through ball in the 64th minute to make it 2-0 for United.
Paraguay International Roque Santa Cruz was the only one, who showed consistency in threatening former Dutch International Edwin Van der Sar. However, Ince had to take him off, as he was injured during the course of the game.
Manchester United Boss will be happy with the first back-to-back victory in the season for the club. Currently, they have 11 points from 6 games and are positioned 6th in the Premier League table.
Meanwhile, West Brom defeated Fulham 1-0 with a goal from former Hearts’ striker Roman Bednar at The Hawthorns.
