Capello To Succeed McClaren As England Manager
December 13, 2007
There have been a lot of moving and shifting of minds recently on football. Today, Capello is said to be appointed as the next England manager, as many understands.
According to BBC sports editor Mihir Bose, 61-year old Italian has been offered to pen a four-year deal worthing £4m a year. Capello, the former AC Milan Coach and who has also coached Juventus, Roma and Real Madrid, replaces Steve McClaren, who was dismissed in November. His appointment will be sanctioned formally by the Football Association which will be followed with a conference call with board members.
BBC reported that Capello’s contract will have a section in it permitting both parties to evaluate their options after the 2010 World Cup in South Africa. Nobody has heard of any existing news just yet about who Capello’s assistants will be but is also predicted to be some sort of English influence, with Alan Shearer or Stuart Pearce eyed to bring in a role in the new supervisory set-up.
Ex-Chelsea boss Jose Mourinho was the original favorite to take over McClaren. Capello articulated his interest in the position just days after McClaren’s exit, telling the people that it is a “beautiful challenge”. He then, as a final point, met for deliberations with FA chief executive Brian Barwick and director of football Sir Trevor Brooking on Wednesday in London.
Capello has a very remarkable performance which comes with the assistance of such football top names such as Sir Alex Ferguson, Gianfranco Zola, Arsene Wenger, and Clarence Seedorf. They are all in awe of his achievements and standing in the game.
