Adebayor: I am going to stay at Arsenal

August 2nd, 2008

All rumors in relation to a possible transfer from Arsenal have been ruled out by Togo International, Emmanuel Adebayor. The striker has also revealed that he even has signed a fresh contract with the London Club.

24-year old star from Togo made way to join Gunners during the 2006 winter transfers and since then, he has led more than a helping hand, which prompted interest from AC Milan & Barcelona in the player.

However, Adebayor has decided to continue with the team of Arsene Wenger and revealed to the official website of the club that he is sure about his future with the club and will be signing fresh contract at Emirates Stadium.

According to him, his stay with the club has been excellent and wherever he stays during the off season, his hearts stays at Arsenal. Henceforth, he does not have any desire of leaving the club in the near future.

However, he was very upset with media of spreading the rumors in relation to the possible move and his interest. He said that he never gave even a hint of leaving his current club. There are three years still left in his contract and he wants tenure of similar duration at the club. He feels that his family in Arsenal is the primary factor for his decision.

Adebayor even confirmed that his coach, Arsene Wenger, knew about his views from the beginning and always told him to concentrate more on his game play than rumors, as they are a part of being a top player in the world.

Now with Adebayor staying at Emirates and with Persie & Fabregas in top form, Arsenal attack will be tough on any defense.

Rumors are Kaka’s source of inspiration

July 25th, 2008

AC Milan’s 26 year old star, Kaka is not worried about speculations regarding his future. Of late, he has been linked with a change to Chelsea football club. However, the Brazilian playmaker seems to be home at AC Milan.

According to several club officials, Kaka, who is one of the most important members of the San Siro club, is not at all angry over the various rumors relating his move.

According to few close sources of Kaka, he is using those rumors for motivation, as he considers them to be positive signs about his game play giving him inspiration to improve his game even more.

Ronaldinho, who has recently moved to AC Milan from Barcelona, would improve clubs dominance in various tournaments. The Milan fans can be rest assured of an exciting prospect of watching the two Brazilian teammates at San Siro.

According to Ancelotti with Ronaldinho’s arrival, the Milan camp has started brimming with energy and has become very enthusiastic. The club officials are looking forward for a great display of football from both Ronaldinho and Kaka upfront. They are also confident that both the players would benefit from each others game that would help the club in getting success.

Kaka, who recently underwent a knee operation, has recovered well from the operation. He has even started pre-season training quite a few days back, as he will not be competing for Brazil at the Olympics.

According to Ancelotti, Kaka is training with the group and looks perfectly recovered from the operation that took place in the end of last season.

Kaka move to Chelsea gets thumbs down

July 24th, 2008

AC Milan has finally sealed all the news regarding a Kaka transfer, at least for now. The club was reportedly offered a huge amount of money by Chelsea. However, they have refused, bringing all the speculation and wild guesswork to an end.

Looking at the condition Chelsea are already in, this try to get Kaka is no more than another ‘business minded’ plan by the Russian owner Roman Abramovich, since the club has already three attacking midfielders in Englishman Frank Lampard, German Michael Ballack and the newly acquired Brazil-born Portuguese international Deco.

However, this may seem to be a great investment for the ‘not-so-near’ future, since both Lampard and Ballack have said that they are in no great hurry to sign contract extensions at Stamford Bridge. With their contracts left for only a year each, it can be a dangerous position for the Blues.

Chelsea, during this transfer season lost some key players in Hernan Crespo and Mekalele, and potentially good youngster Steve Sidwell.

Still, according to executive Peter Kenyon, the London Club is not interested in pursuing this deal as they know the Italian side is not interested.

In an English transfer season which seems to be plagued by ‘refusals’ rather than transfers and ‘complaints’ by managers for conduct, which they too are later accused of, it is not a rare thing to see. Much of the transfers are hyped more than required, just to be refused in the coming days.

Whether or not this seemingly cancelled deal is bagged by Chelsea, they have a great side and seem to be in great shape in their pre-season in China. Premiership teams – Beware!

AC Milan: Kaka Not for Sale

July 21st, 2008

Brazilian star Kaka, who also represents AC Milan, is said to have received a huge bid for his transfer to Stamford Bridge. Chelsea has had an eye on this 26 year old for quite sometime now and are pressing hard to sign him for this season.

AC Milan’s vice-president though dismissed the talks of any transfer and claimed that Kaka is and will be a part of plans for AC Milan the coming season. Galliani, the vice-president did agree of receiving bids for the playmaker from English clubs, but maintained his stand and assured Milan fans of having Kaka the next season too, as they are not ready for any transfer.

Kaka’s manager claimed that the player himself was looking for a move to the west London club, Chelsea. He claimed that though Milan refused a high bid for Kaka last season from Real Madrid, but this time the transfer to Chelsea may go through, as it might help the club in many ways and the player too.

It would increase Kaka’s salary immensely and would also make him richer by about US$24 Million, which is a part of the transfer fees. Kaka’s manager also stated that the player himself was keen on playing for the team, as the Blues are the team to be in, as they are improving to win everything.

Though sources in his present club dismissed any talks about Kaka’s transfer to any club, they also claimed that the bidding amount has been too huge to resist.

Kaka is the most coveted player for the AC Milan and the player has a contract till 2012-2013, so San Siro Club would hardly let him go.

Ferguson adamant on Berbatov for Old Trafford

July 13th, 2008

Sir Alex Ferguson seems to be quite adamant for his new target, Bulgarian international and Tottenham Hotspur player, Dimitar Berbatov. If reports are to be believed, Manchester United has made an official bid worth $ 39.7 million to the Spurs for the player.

The Scotsman thinks that Berbatov will prove to be the perfect support to an already smashing attack comprising of Wayne Rooney, the England international and Carlos Tevez, Argentinean magician.

Spurs’ boss Juande Ramos will be surely unwilling to let his prized possession go away, but needs to have a check put on the club’s budget, and maybe this is the only way. Berbatov has also expressed his desire to win some more trophies before it is too late, and has been in talks with Chelsea and AC Milan prior to this.

And of course, the ex-CSKA Sofia and Bayer Leverkusen star along with four-time Bulgarian Player of the Year may be the perfect addition to the Old Trafford squad, which won the UEFA Champions League final in Moscow against Chelsea just weeks before.

Manchester United fans are scared that if the club is willing to buy Berbatov, then Christaino Ronaldo may be likely to go to Real Madrid.

The Ronaldo debate has got many influential personalities to put forward their views on the trend of ‘modern slavery’ in football, including FIFA president Step Blatter and Brazilian great Pele, who said that a player is a slave, if he does not get a salary or has no contract. Brazilian star also added that Ronaldo should see out the rest of his contract with United.

Now whether or not Ronaldo leaves for Bernabeu, Berbatov seems all set to come to Old Trafford for making an impact in the ‘Theatre of Dreams’.

Lampard and Drogba to stay at Chelsea

July 10th, 2008

Chelsea F.C. coach Luiz Filipe Scolari has insisted that the club is not willing to sell its star players, Frank Lampard and Didier Drogba. He added that both these players have a future with him at Stanford Bridge.

An official 7.95 million pound offer was made by Italian side, Inter Milan, for midfielder Frank Lampard, after former Chelsea Coach Jose Mourinho took their charge. In response, Chelsea have reportedly rejected this offer, saying that they are not willing to sell Lampard and have ‘no interest’ in any negotiations on this issue with Milan.

It has been said that Lampard, the player with most Chelsea caps and goals in the current squad, has told coach Scolari that he is happy staying at Stamford Bridge disregarding the statement issued by his agent, who stated that his future with the club remained ‘unresolved’.

Didier Drogba, Ivory Coast captain, was also pursued by Inter Milan’s rival AC Milan. According to Scolari, the blues are waiting for an offer just to reject it and keep the forward in their squad.

Although no words of confirmation have yet come from Drogba or his agent, still the 2006-07 Premiership Golden Boot winner and African Footballer of the Year has given enough indication for his desire to stay longer at Stamford Bridge.

New manager Scolari, who is also the 2-time South American Coach of the Year and known to have a friendly reputation with his players, looks to be all set for propeling Chelsea to a better and well-organized team, and henceforth, leading them to more success.

UEFA Ruling Hurts Celtic, AC Milan

October 15th, 2007

When an unruly fan stormed the pitch during last week’s match between Celtic and AC Milan, no one could have ever estimated the costs to both sides that occurred because of the incident. Celtic pulled off the major upset, but that wasn’t the only loss that Milan suffered on the night. Milan goalkeeper Dida has been suspended for two matches following the incident, causing a windstorm of criticism in recent days.

After the Celts’ Scott McDonald notched the eventual game winning goal during the second half of the game, a supporter made his way onto the field and into the action. That fan made his way towards the Brazilan Dida and caused the goalkeeper’s response that would eventually lead to his suspension. Dida was brushed by the fan, but he faked a much more serious injury following the incident. This should have a significant impact on Milan’s ability to compete over the next couple of matches. Milan had been pegged as a 9-1 favorite to win the UEFA Champion’s League. Dida wasn’t alone in taking punishment for the incident. Scottish side Celtic was fined because of the incident. Some estimated that UEFA might use their power in affecting the outcome of the match, but that did not happen. According to league officials, there was no evidence that the incident had a severe impact on the match’s outcome.

The fine against Celtic came as a result of what the UEFA board deemed a “lack of organizational control”. Dida, on the other hand, was guilty of violating one of the game’s most basic premises. He violated the game’s “principles of loyalty, integrity, and sportsmanship”, which are protected vigorously under league rules.

At last word, Milan indicated their desire to appeal the decision against their goalkeeper. If the appeal is not granted, then Dida will have to sit out the club’s next two matches which will be against Shakhtar and Donetsk. The most informed members of the soccer community don’t expect UEFA to overturn their previous decision.

Celtic has taken action against the fan that caused the widespread ruckus. He has been convicted in court of disturbing the peace and will have to suffer under a lifetime ban from all future Celtic matches.

AC Milan Reportedly Shopping for a Goalkeeper

October 13th, 2007

AC Milan’s situation at goalkeeper seems to be a volatile one. With their appeal to UEFA still pending, the club is looking to expand its options in the net. Dida is still the go-to guy for Milan, they are reportedly looking to add a proven keeper to the mix for the immediate future.

As far as potential replacements go, it looks like Milan will look to poach a keeper from La Liga. Reports and rumors indicate that Villarreal keeper Diego Lopez is on the top of Milan’s list. Lopez was previously with Real Madrid, but his rights were purchased for the hefty price of six million euros during 2006. Because Lopez has been around for a while and has proven to be an ultra reliable option in the net, AC Milan sees some value there.

According to published reports, AC Milan made contact with former Real Madrid goalkeeping coach Franco Tancredi. The purpose of that contact was clear, as the club sought to uncover more information about their potential replacement goalkeeper. Milan was reportedly encouraged by the positive review provided by Tancredit, as the former Roma legend put forth a solid recommendation for the player.

There are a few other names being thrown into the ring, as well. CKSA Moscow goalkeeper Igor Akinfeev is only a young man at age 21, but he has drawn some serious looks from the Milan brass. Akinfeev has played internationally with Russia, including a couple of appearances in the 2004 European Championships. He is a player who is thought to be a future star of many years, so Russian clubs aren’t likely to let him walk for less than a king’s ransom. Akinfeev will be on display in the next couple weeks as his club with square off with Inter in Champions League tie action.
