Ferguson wants Fab Four in the same lineup

December 9th, 2008

Sir Alex Ferguson seems motivated for deploying all his attacking options in the same squad.

Manchester United Boss has a plethora of attacking options in his ranks. Likes of Cristiano Ronaldo,
Wayne Rooney, Carlos Tevez and Dimitar Berbatov are sure to have no problems in walking into any side of the Premier League.

Now, the wily Scot is looking for methods of fitting his ‘Fab Four’ into the same squad without sacrificing on the defensive aspect of his side.

During an interview to the Sun, Ferguson said ‘I’ll wish to get it done, but it’s almost impossible.’

‘Each of these players is flexible enough for playing in any role that they’re given.’

‘It will surely make way for a formidable frontline. I’ve even been doodling continuously for trying to come up with ways, so that I can fit all of these players in the same lineup.’

If Ferguson finally figures a method for including all of them, Red Devil fans might be in for some treat. Final 30 minutes of their last game against Sunderland at Old Trafford did offer a glimpse of what can happen when all of these players will be on the field at the same time.

Meanwhile, Tottenham Hotspurs continued their revival under Harry Redknapp, as they cruised to a 2-0 win over West Ham United at Upton Park.

Goals from defender Ledley King, who scored after 3 years, and Jamie O’Hara in the second half were enough for the Spurs to defeat the Hammers.

Rooney: Ron is always ready for tough challenges

November 27th, 2008

Manchester United forward Wayne Rooney feels that Cristiano Ronaldo has the talent to rise above tough challenge and rival supporters’ baiting.

After a goalless draw against Villarreal in a Champions League encounter, Red Devils Boss, Sir Alex Ferguson, said that Ronaldo was a victim of systematic fouling in England & Europe.

Villarreal’s Capdevila was shown the red card 7 minutes from the final whistle after he had a reckless challenge on the Portuguese player. This challenge was so vicious that it left stud marks on his knees.

Ronaldo was already doubtful for the game after he suffered cuts on his ankle during this weekend’s goalless draw against Aston Villa at Villa Park.

Ronaldo also endured constant taunts from El Madrigal’s crowd. However, Rooney insisted that his
teammate never allowed such things to intimidate during a game.

England International said, ‘He is a player with high class and expects such treatment wherever he goes. He has matured enough for dealing with such situation.’

‘We were a better side and created the most chances, but failed to capitalize on them.’

With an important game against Manchester City coming up, Rooney felt that Red Devils needed to play at their best.

‘We need to win against City, as it will help us in closing the gap with the table leaders.’

Although it’s going to be a tough game at City of Manchester Stadium, Manchester United will have to perform well and win the game or they will be left far behind in the title race.

Charlton backs Ronaldo for another remarkable season

November 19th, 2008

Former Manchester United Legend, Sir Bobby Charlton, believes that Cristiano Ronaldo is once again racking up goals for his club.

During last weekend’s 5-0 demolition job of Stoke City at Old Trafford, Ronaldo scored 2 goals and took his tally for Manchester United to 101.

This was the first time in this campaign that both his goals came off free-kicks and left Thomas Sorensen, Stoke’s goalkeeper, baffled.

Currently, the United star has 9 goals in this season, which is following a remarkable season where he scored 43 times for the Devils.

Charlton had 249 goals in 758 appearances for United. During an interview, he showed his delight for seeing the return in form of Portuguese winger.

Charlton said, ‘Free-kicks from Ronaldo haven’t been going lately. But thankfully, it worked during the Stoke’s game.’

‘I find his scoring rate to be fantastic. His last campaign was an incredible one and this one is heading in the same direction.’

There was a period during the transfer season where Ronaldo seemed ready for a move to Real Madrid, but eventually decided otherwise.

Charlton claims that Ronaldo is currently playing at the best club in the world. According to him, only Red Devils can hone his talents with the presence of Sir Alex Ferguson.

‘I feel that Cristiano would have given a thought about his decision. Eventually, he also realized, like the most of us, that this club is the best in the world.’

‘With the presence of Sir Alex Ferguson, who I consider the best manager of the modern game, his talent is going to be well nurtured.’

Ronaldo aims to clinch his side’s first win at Emirates

November 7th, 2008

Portuguese winger, Cristiano Ronaldo, feels Manchester United must strain every nerve to strengthen their hopes for winning against Arsenal on Saturday.

In shaping up United’s trip to Emirates Stadium, the attention has been mainly on an injury-hit side of Arsene Wenger.

Red Devils has already dropped important points against Everton & Newcastle. Ronaldo feels that Sir Alex Ferguson’s men have much to prove for shortening the distance to get a hat-trick of Premier League title.

He said that in order to win the title, they have to get three points against the London Club.
While speaking in an interview, Ronaldo said, ‘I am unaware of the fact that whether it is tough for our rival at this moment or not. However as both the teams have same number of players, it has to be difficult as always.’

United almost came out victorious in one of their matches at Emirates, which ended in a thrilling 2-2 draw.

In his statement, Ronaldo paid due respect to the spirit of Gunners and admitted that he cannot find any reason for Arsenal’s poor performance in second half to stay the way it is right now.

He added ‘This was exactly what came in their way in the previous season or else, they would have ended up on a high.’

‘May be this time, just the opposite happens and they (Arsenal) would lose points in the beginning and win the same in the ultimate bit of the session.’

Red Devils will be looking forward to score a win at Emirates, so that they can continue their bid for the title. If their performance in the second half of the Champions League game against Celtic was anything to go by, then Gunners should know that they have another tough battle in hand.

Manchester United looking to build up!

October 31st, 2008

After a convincing win over West Ham, Manchester United players seem to be charged up and raring to go for the Premier League title yet again.

As far as the Portugal football star, Cristiano Ronaldo, is concerned, he seems pretty much engrossed over himself.

Ronaldo scored twice to lead his team to a 2-0 victory over West Ham at Old Trafford.

Red Devils winger had been recently awarded the FIFPro World Footballer of the Year award for his exemplary performance in the field during the previous season.

Experts feel that this may be just the beginning of many more acclaims that would come by Ronaldo’s way.

However, the player is pretty nonchalant and said that it was very logical for him to be awarded. According to him, he performed quite remarkably last season with 42 goals under his belt.

While Ronaldo is looking to build on his skills and performance, his teammate Edwin Van der Sar is asking his team to regroup and heighten their game’s tempo.

Former Holland International is urging United to keep close to the League leaders, until the second half of the Championship season.

United, who are following Liverpool and last years contender Chelsea by 8 and 5 points respectively, would be looking forward to gain full points from their match against an in-form Hull City.

A victory would ensure them a proper chance at the title, as they have a game in hand too.

In the mean time several United’s players, who have not been able to show up due to international duties or injuries, would be returning back to the camp boosting Red Devils to move ahead in their quest for Premier League and Champions League titles.

Ronaldo: You have not seen my best yet

October 25th, 2008

Cristiano Ronaldo, star winger of Portugal, tried to strike fear into his opponents after claiming that he is not yet a finished article.

23-year-old winger has already been rated amongst the top players on the planet. He is also a favorite for getting both the European & World Player of the Year awards, which will be announced within 2 months.

Ronaldo showed his class in the previous season, when he netted 42 goals that helped United in winning the Champions League and Premier League double. However, the Manchester United ace was adamant that he still has a scope of improvement.

While speaking in an interview at Marca, Ronaldo said, ‘Of course, if players think that they already know everything, they are dead.’

‘I still believe that there are lots of aspects in me, which can get polished.’

‘I don’t feel that my learning is finished and I will keep on improving with each game till my career reaches its end.’

Ronaldo missed the early games in this season involving Man U after undergoing an ankle surgery following the EURO 2008 campaign. However, he has now come back to the side and is scoring goals on almost regular basis.

Former Sporting Lisbon winger admitted that he was yet to be in full fitness, but hoped to reach the top after having some games under his belt.

‘I’m yet to recover fully from my injury. However, inside 3-4 games, I will perform to the best of my ability, both mentally and physically.’

Ronaldo added, ‘I know it’s difficult to repeat my feats of the previous year. Still, I’m hopeful that I will be better with every game I play.’

Ferguson: Rafael will be the next big thing for Devils

October 2nd, 2008

Manchester United Boss, Sir Alex Ferguson, hailed Rafael Da Silva, as the next big thing for Red Devils.

Ferguson stunned observers by putting Rafael above Wes Brown in the Right Back position during the Champions League game against Denmark club, Aalborg.

The 3-0 victory for United justified his decision, as the Brazilian was playing impressive till he got forced out of action midway through the second half.

‘I feel the lad has talent and a lot of expectation has been developed for him in the camp’, said the Scot.

‘He has impressed us a lot during his stint in the game against Aalborg.’

‘People might have been shocked with my decision to pick him over an experienced Wes brown. However, he proved during the game that there is something special in him.’

Meanwhile, Cristiano Ronaldo said in an interview that he will be rearing to make full use of all the opportunities in the coming games.

The charismatic Portuguese has got dull outings in all his appearance so far in this season, after returning from a knee injury. He just has one goal to his name in the Premier League, which came against Bolton in the form of a penalty.

However, he said that he will be back and give his full effort for helping his side in retaining both Champions League and Premier league title in their kitty.

Former Sporting Lisbon winger said ‘I am over all the controversies that started the season for me and my club.’

‘Right Now, I only have one thing in mind and that is to help United in retaining their Premiership and Champions League Crown.’

Manchester United Vs Bolton Wanderers: Ronaldo and Rooney score in United win

September 28th, 2008

Defending Champions Manchester United finally registered their first home win of the season with a 2-0 over Bolton Wanderers.

Cristiano Ronaldo scored from a controversial penalty in the 60th minute and substitute Wayne Rooney scored in the 77th minute, as Red Devils proved to be too much to handle for the away side.

Bolton had very few chances in the game. However, they kept holding United till a controversial penalty was given by Referee Rob Styles.

Television replay showed that the ball was clearly played by Jlloyd Samuels before he went sliding into Ronaldo. Portuguese Star sent Bolton keeper Jaaskelainen on the wrong side and broke the deadlock for the home team.

Rooney, who came in as a substitute for Carlos Tevez, scored the second goal, which was his first of the season, for United after exchanging several passes with Ronaldo.

Sir Alex Ferguson’s men are currently on the ninth position in the Barclays Premier League table with eight points from 5 games.

Meanwhile, even the arrival of Joe Kinnear to St. James Park failed to create an impact, as Blackburn Rovers defeated Newcastle United 2-1.

Britannia Stadium saw goals from Jose Bosingwa and Nicolas Anelka that allowed Chelsea to register a 2-0 win over Stoke and regain the top spot in the table.

The biggest shock of the day came at the Emirates Stadium, as Hull scored a 2-1 victory over Arsenal. It was the first defeat for the Gunners at their home ground in 17 months and allowed Liverpool, Chelsea and Aston Villa to go past them in the table.

Aston Villa also continued their great run in the premier League with a 2-1 over Keane’s Sunderland at Villa Park. They are currently third in the table.

Ronaldo: It’s very tough to intimidate me

September 19th, 2008

Cristiano Ronaldo, Manchester United winger, has told Chelsea players that they should forget about kicking him down to lumps when the two sides meet on Sunday.

Portuguese Star, who is referred as mercurial dazzler by most experts, made a long-awaited return for the Red Devils on the pitch against Spanish Club, Villarreal, in the Champions League.

He was a second half substitute for his side in what was a disappointing goalless draw for the European Champions.

He could have made an impactful return, but his header just fizzed wide of the Villarreal goal post. There is probability that the player is in shouting distance of starting in the massive face-off against the Blues on Sunday.

23-year-old player, whose stint in the Premier league has already spanned five years, cleared that he is already accustomed to rough nature of important games, especially when you’re the star of the opponent.

Ronaldo, PFA player of the year, even heated the ongoing explosive cauldron by challenging the London Club for employing rough tactics.

While speaking to The Sun, he said ‘I am sure that there will be attempts made for intimidating me on and off the field. But, they will soon find out that it’s very difficult to get on my nerves.’

‘I’ll not think of retaliating but get booted again, if such rough tactics are used by Chelsea. My toughness will be on show during the game.’

‘When it comes to payback, I’ll do in a way that I do best: By scoring Goals!’

Meanwhile, Chelsea midfielder Frank Lampard, who yesterday said that his side was not intimidated by Ronaldo’s return, said that he was relieved after getting Terry back to tackle the forward men of Manchester United.

Ferguson optimistic ahead of match against Chelsea

September 19th, 2008

Manchester United manager Sir Alex Ferguson is quite optimistic about the club’s chances of winning against Chelsea this weekend, despite a bad start to this season.

Red Devils have won just one match and scored only four goals in their first five competitive matches of this season. The defending premiership champions lie at the 14th place presently.

According to Ferguson, United will get back into the driver’s seat much sooner than later.

As good news for Man U, midfielder Paul Scholes is available for this match, after his suspension.

Though no doubt United need to take their strongest possible combination to London, there are still a couple of questions to be answered on the part of Ferguson.

Firstly, there remains a shadow of uncertainty over winger Christiano Ronaldo’s availability for the clash. He had more than two months on the sideline, since 2008 Euro Cup. Though he played as a second-half substitute against Villarreal on Wednesday, there is doubt on him starting the game at Stamford Bridge.

Secondly, Bulgarian forward Dimitar Berbatov, this season’s biggest signing at Old Trafford, is out injured with a knee trouble that he received in his debut match against Liverpool at Anfield. He also missed the Champions League match, which ended in a goalless draw.

Berbatov is still not fully recovered, but Fergie insists that he can play the match.

A suspended Nemanja Vidic adds to the Red Devils woes. But, Jonny Evans can fill his place well, as he did in the match against the Spanish Club.
