Arsenal Football Club – The Gunners

This football club was founded as old as 120 years back in London but currently located in Emirates Stadium at Holloway. Their colors include white and red and their emblem fetched them a nickname of Gunners. They are showing great fight back in the recent times. The club touts fans from across the world and the numbers are only to rise in the coming years.

English premier league Arsenal trounced Reading by a score of 2 to 0 recently. Thanks to their ebullient team manager, Arsène Wenger who helmed Arsenal to its victory. The team was a joy to watch, enthuses Wenger’s counterpart, Steve Coppell. The Reading manager responded, “I’m hardly insulated from the situation. Managers get rewarded for results.” Coppell went on to point out, a match from which his team was not expected to earn any tangible money was never going to break Reading’s season.

The Arsenal manager later claimed that he had been worried about how his young side would react after viewing their Champions’ League and Premier League ambitions dissipate in five days. “We reciprocated well after humongous losses,” he beamed. “It is very crucial for us, because the next season begins now.”

The extent of Reading’s loss was obvious, nevertheless, in the manner of Cesc Fabregas during a post-match interview. He responded stoutly to the suggestion that Arsenal’s performances this season boded well for the next one. “I think it is premature to say we will win next year, because we are young,” Fabregas alleged. While Fabregas has just signed a seven-year contract with Arsenal, he will surely be apprehensive to see how the squad plays next season. Although Alexander Hleb and Mathieu Flamini have yet to confirm their continuing participation in Wenger’s plans, they have been given until the end of the month to decide on his new offer.

Minutes before the break, Arsenal doubled their lead as Fabregas pulled the ball back for Gilbertoto score with a 20-yard drive that deflected in off Andre Bikey’s head. A goal-line clearance from Ivar Ingimarsson denied Fabregas the goal he had sought all along with seven minutes left, but Arsenal had already scored enough to send the majority of the over 60,000 spectators home in cheerful hearts.

With over 13 championships in its kitty, for its miilions of fans Arsenal is more a cult and living than just a sport club!!

Football Team Kits

People tell us never to judge books by their covers, but this is rarely followed. Even in football, a large amount of attention is paid to football team kits. Each and every football team have their own kit. Kits are not only necessary for a player to identify his team mate during a match, but become the identity of a club and is embedded in the club’s folklore.
Most of the kits contain the player’s name, number and a symbol of the sponsors. It is up to the designers the club hire to design a nice looking one.

However there have been many recent stories of blunders made by the designer such as Aston Villas Home 1986-1987 kit or Coventry City’s away strip of 1991-1992, not to mention Arsenal’s Away kit of 1990. Ajax’s Away kit of 1992 and Bochums Home kit of 1997-1998 made their respective teams a laughing stock in the world of football.
Most clubs usually print the player’s names on the back of the jersey, along with a number ranging from 0 to 99.

The number is used by match officials for identifying the players. The respective shirt numbers of each player of the club have to be registered with the football governing body of the country. Changing shirt numbers is generally not encouraged. The crest of the club is printed on the top left or right hand corner of the shirt. Players are expected to fell motivated and inspired every time they see the crest. Many players, after scoring a goal have the habit of kissing the club crest, in order to show their love for the club to the fans. The middle part usually displays a message or symbol of the sponsors. The main necessity of kits is for one person to identify his team mate on the football pitch. Matches are played on huge pitches, in all kinds of weather, in front of tens of thousands of fans.
