Grant: Scolari is perfect to bring title at the London Club
August 2, 2008
Former Chelsea boss Avram Grant has put his faith in World Cup winning coach Luiz Philipe Scolari to bring home a title, something Chelsea have recently been associated with ‘falling short’ at the last step.
In Thailand for lecturing the representatives of Thailand Premier League, Grant expressed happiness over the changes that have been brought about at the club saying that the squad was now better than even Manchester United or Arsenal.
He has stated that he believes Chelsea is now a stronger side than when he was at the club. He further said that present coach Luiz Philipe Scolari has the full potential to bring home a Premier League title.
Grant, who has previously been the coach of Israel national soccer team, was working as ‘Director of Football’ at Stamford Bridge, when Coach Jose Mourinho was sacked. He was then appointed the coach becoming the first Israeli to manage an English football club.
The widely criticized coach had a word of ‘praise’ for himself too, as he told and pressed on the fact that he is a good coach.
According to him, when he took over, not many Chelsea players believed in him, and despite all this, the club managed to be the runners up in three competitions under his ‘leadership’.
Meanwhile, he did not say anything about a recent statement by Scolari that midfielder Florent Malouda was ‘wasted’ by former coaches Mourinho and Grant and that preferably he will now play as a winger.
Grant is presently enjoying a holiday and has revealed that he is getting many coaching offers to look upon, but presently his vacation is the most important issue that he needs to take care of!
