Spurs to revitalize squad with fresh faces
August 10, 2008
Tottenham Hotspur, the London club, which was the first in the 20th century to win the league and FA Cup double, has set not one or two, but three transfer targets this summer to revitalize their squad with Robbie Keane leaving for Liverpool and Dimitar Berbatov almost confirmed for a ticket to Old Trafford.
Spurs boss Juande Ramos has set transfer targets in Euro 2008 hero Andrei Arshavin, EURO 2008 Golden Boot winner David Villa and Croatia right back Vedran Corluka. All three of them are in the middle of all the ongoing transfer rumors this preseason.
Tottenham have lost a key player in Robbie Keane to Liverpool for 20 million pounds. They are about to bid farewell to Bulgarian striker and four-time Bulgarian Player of the Year, Dimitar Berbatov, to Manchester United for a possible 30 million deal. Both the amounts will be accounting for the three transfers to be executed.
Arshavin has been linked to a move to the Premiership ever since his smashing performances at the Euro 08, and clubs like Chelsea and Arsenal were rumored to have made bids for the star.
EL Guage (the ‘kid’) David Villa won the Golden Boot for scoring the maximum number of goals in EURO 2008. His agent has said that Villa enjoys being in London and loves the way Juande Ramos manages his squad!
The Lilywhites have already got seven new players this season for a net total of about 20 million pounds. They boast of a big squad with players fighting for each of the positions in the formation.
These new buys, if completed, will surely set the momentum for the whole of the coming season(s)!
